Dear Ones, When we say, "we're here for you," at the end of every service, we mean it. And now, we have an opportunity to walk our talk by helping with scholarship money to send a teen to the Centers for Spiritual Living Teen Summer Camp. In the past, (and in the future), we provide our own camp experience for our teens through a program called YOUTHSPIRIT. We were able to pull this camp off with only charging $100 per teen.
This year, however, some of our teens went to winter camp and came back begging to go to the CSL summer camp in Idelwild. Since I love the idea of them meeting Science of Mind teens from all over the country, I said we'd make it work somehow for them to go this once. Well, the cost of the camp is $498 per teen. We have 13 teens who want to go and our policy is "if one goes, we all (who want to) go," meaning nobody gets left behind because their parents can't pay for it.
Not only is the cost of the camp $498 per teen, CSL also charges $498 per counselor (and we're required to send three, costing the church $1,500 just to send the counselors.) At 13 kids, the total cost for the kids alone is $6,474. Of that amount, parents were able to pay $2,794 (some paying the full amount, some paying a partial amount), the teens themselves raised $1,000 through various fund raisers like the tamale sales, leaving a scholarship need of $2,680 just for the kids. Will you help us make a difference in a CSA Teen's life by contributing either a full scholarship or a partial scholarship to help our kids have this experience? If so, please click on the donate button below or bring a check or your credit card to church on Sunday. Gifts of any amount deeply appreciated.
